September 11th
1966...Dutch Scheafer (Bennett 1) journeyed to the far north and came away with a victory at Vermont’s Catamount Stadium. Len Thrall (Slaney 6) was second, Dave Humphrey (Secondo 32) third and Chet Conklin (B&R 63) on the third mile that ran through the 1987 season. |
September 12th
1987...Mike Osite’s (Nogueira 1) couldn’t get away from Russ Stoehr (Beane 26) until the closing laps at Beech Ridge. Third-place Bobby Seymour (Seymour 4) had the best view of the battle. Brian Caruso (Caruso 21) was fourth and Lee Smith (Boissoneau 72) fifth. |
September 13th
1953...New Britain, CT racer Johnny DiLeo, driving the Ken Johnson #21 Ford, won on the paved fifth mile that existed inside the half-mile dirt track at Stafford. It was NEMA’s first visit to Stafford and the first win for a car numbered 21. Ronnie Evans won on the same track in 1955 but it was only a memory the next time NEMA came to Stafford to run on the newly paved half mile in 1967. |
September 14th
2013... Seth Carlson (Fiegel 71) started third but waited until traffic provided the opportunity to take the lead on lap 18 en route to a victory at Oswego. Bethany Stoehr (Stoehr 5b) had to beat back her father Greg (Stoehr 26b) to get runner-up money. |
September 16th
1972...Dave Humphrey (McCarthy 47) passed Gene Bergin (Secondo 31) in turn four on the last lap to win a 25-lapper at Westboro. Sonny Sanders (Scrivani 21), Johnny Mann (Stropoli 66) and Jerry Wall (Wall 5) followed. |

September 18th
2009 ...Sixty-four year old Jeff Horn (Horn A1) won his 20th career feature at Lee. The ageless Horn took the lead on lap five, lost it to Jeff Abold then regained it when the latter fell out. Russ Stoehr (45), Adam Cantor (Cantor 7ny), Nokie Fornoro (Jarret 4) and Randy Cabral (Bertrand 47) followed Horn. |
