1993... Greg Stoehr (Zahar 38b) passed brother Russ (Beane 26) on the last lap to win at Thompson’s World Series. Drew Fornoro (Angelillo 45) and Bobby Seymour (Seymour 4) were third and fourth. Joey Coy grabbed championships for himself and owner Carl Kibbe with a fifth. It was the second career victory for owner John Zahar, the first coming the week before when Stoehr beat Bobby Seymour and Lou Cicconi in a 50 lapper at Seekonk.

1997... It was a fitting finish for long-time NEMA car owner Bruce Beane. After battles with Nokie Fornoro and Joe Gosek (Angelillo 45), Russ Stoehr won at Thompson’s World Series, giving Beane his first championship after three decades of action. Gosek wound up second followed by Bobby Seymour (Hultgren 9), Bob Boetticher (Boetticher 56) and John Ferrell (Douville 7x). It was Stoehr’s second championship. Eleven years earlier (1986) Butch Walsh went out a winner with a victory at Thompson in the Nogueira entry. It was Walsh’s last NEMA race.  Lee Smith (Boissoneau 72) was second to Walsh.

1990... Russ Stoehr’s first championship came at Lee amid some unique circumstances.   Stoehr’s usual ride, the Beane #26, was collected in an early accident. Paul Stoehr then vacated the Miller 3 in favor of his son, who drove it to fourth place and claimed the crown with a 47-point edge on Joey Coy (Kibbe 94). Coy was second in the race in behind winner Drew Fornoro (Angelillo 45) who got Gene Angelillo his fifth crown

2012... Randy Cabral only had to start the Lee Oktoberfest to assure himself of fourth championship in five years. Instead he dominated a field shortened by a crash that actually delayed the race by almost two hours. He moved right to the front and breezed home in front of Jim Miller (Miller 3m), Ian Cumens (Seymour 4), John Zych Jr. (Zych 9) and Paul Scally (Scally 30).

1989...Suspected of leaking, Noki Fornoro was black flagged. Found to be clean, he wound up the winner at Lee in a second Angelillo entry.  Nate Boutwell ($) was second and Joey Coy was third, clinching the championship for himself and owner Carl Kibbe with room to spare.
