July 10th
2007...Erica Santos (Breault 44) was NEMA’s first female feature winner in a mid-week show at Stafford. Taking the lead on the backstretch in traffic on lap 26, she finished ahead of Joey Payne (Angelillo 45) and Jeremy Fankoski (Power Point 99) in the 30 lapper. Jeff Horn (Horn A1) and Ben Seitz (Valeri 17) were fourth and fifth. Erica was quoted as saying... “It is very meaningful to make history with this club that involves so many great people...but it doesn’t matter that I’m a girl. Tonight I’m a winner!” |
July 11th
1987...Mike Osite (Nogueira 10) passed Dave Humphrey (Kibbe 14) in the closing laps to win a 25 lapper at Star. Jeff Horn (Hayes 47) was third, Drew Fornoro (Angelillo 1) fourth and Bobby Seymour (Seymour 4) fifth. This was the first of three victories for TQ-regular from Brooklyn, NY. |
July 12th
2003...Drew Fornoro’s 85th and final NEMA win, in the Campanale #91, came in the Wen Kelley Memorial at Star. Second through fifth at that point – Bobby Santos (Seymour 29), Randy Cabral (Cabral 36-), Adam Cantor (Cantor 7ny) and Joey Payne (Angelillo) - totaled 15 wins amongst them. |
July 13th
1985...Mike Favulli (Favulli 80) won the 25-lapper at Oxford Plains. Drew Fornoro (Angelillo 45), Dave Humphrey (Kibbe 14), Paul Stoehr (Czyzewski 1) and Stan Belusiak (Belusiak 19) followed in order. Mike was elected NEMA president the following year and faithfully served and led the club for 7 seasons. |
July 14th
2004...Nokie Fornoro (Berrio 2) was the decided winner when NEMA returned to Stafford after a 20-year absence. Mark Buonomo and Ted Christopher, both in Tim Bertrand entries, stole the show, however, with a battle for second that lasted for most of the 30 laps. Ben Seitz (Valenti 17) was fourth. |
July 15th
1955...Al Pillion, in the Kelley 33, scored the first of his 15 NEMA victories beating Ray Burke and Lou Fray at the New Hampshire’s Manchester Motordrome. It was the first of four races NEMA ran at the quarter mile that went out of business in 1962. |
July 16th
1994...Babe Shaw, in his own 107, grabbed his first NEMA win, a 25-lapper at Riverside Park. Joey Payne (Miller 3) and Mike Seymour (Tapply 8) completed the podium. Barry Cannon (Lane 4) and Paul Lawless (Lawless 6) were fourth and fifth. |
